He is an all-round master guitarist with a passion for music that reflects happiness over any audience and for lovers of all genres. He has performed and recorded with some of the world’s best musicians including Ali Farka Toure, Vusi Mahlasela, Arno Carstens, Koos Kombuis, Valiant Swart, Riku Latti, Louis Mhlanga and Simon Orange. The Under Covers are a nu-Folk Rock band fronted by Scarborough artist/vocalist Charisse Gardiner.
They perform an eclectic mix of songs by the likes of Fleet Foxes, Polly Jean Harvey, Coldplay and Neil Young amongst others, as well as their own material.
The music can best be described as influenced by progressive '70's Americana folk with a touch of 2010's Brit psychedelia sonic vibes and rhythms.
This document introduces Lancaster Band, the original ensemble formed in 1974,
one of the bands that spearheaded ska in South Africa and regarded as ranking
amongst its seminal groups. It's three-decade history has been characterized by
some of the country's most dynamic musicians. During the 1970's Lancaster Band
became renowned for its power-house performances, attracting a wide spectrum of
enthusiastic audiences amidst the control of segregated entertainment imposed by
the apartheid government. More than thirty years later Lancaster Band delivers an
energetic show, anchored by the
consistency of its long-standing
line up.
Vusa and Zoe have been singing for many years in and around this lovely planet. They currently spend most of their time promoting other people's creativity as they own and run Zula Sound Bar in Long Street, but every now and then a chance comes up for them to spread their own.
At present they are playing with Gary on keys and play a mix of originals and covers. From native African to rock, folk and funk they cover it all and hope to bring you a smile or two a long the way and celebrate the All Sorts of life.
